Due to the record entry of 22 players, the competition will be a Swiss system this year. I shouldn't need to say this, but just in case - you do not have to wait till 5th December to play your game! Arrange it with your opponent at a mutually convenient time in the next 6 weeks. Evenings when there is a League match on, in which neither of you is playing, are good opportunities as the back room will be available and quiet.
If you are having problems arranging a game, or if you have to call off an arranged game (eg due to illness), please let me (and your opponent in the latter case) know as soon as possible. If I don't have a result by the deadline, and nobody has told me why, the game will be defaulted and both players will score 0. If one player has been trying to make arrangements and the other has not responded, the first player will be awarded the game. If there have been bona fide attempts to get the game played, but it hasn't happened, it will be declared a draw. (In this case I would be prepared to allow the game to take place in the week following the deadline; the next-round pairings would be determined on the assumption that it was a draw.)
For ECF grading purposes, games should be played over the board and not online. The time limit is slightly less than for Cleveland league matches (1h30 for each player for all moves).
